There were around 100 ppl at the event, some of them were students seeking internship or networking, others were mostly professionals of different industries. The event was about how important it is to help the young professionals to start to go further in their career, and the speakers gave really nice speeches about relative issues. I was able to have several great chats with different people.
One of the organizations there was YP Nation which aimed at facilitating young professionals. I had a nice talk with the VP of Business Development Mr.Dongala about the future of YP.
Another interesting talk was with the CEO of a new publishing house. She seemed very excited about her new launched business and said that the market had been responding really well that she constantly need more products and marketing assistance. Besides a mutual recognition of the importance of social media efforts, I asked her about her idea on iBooks. She admitted that it is definitely the trend for the publishings to go digital, and ebooks will be something she will try to do in her company as well. She is very interested in the idea of iBook, but does not know how to make an iBook. I'm thinking maybe this can be true with many publishers, big and small. It might bring some opportunities for some short term jobs.
And of course, I'm going to stay connected with them via LinkedIn. Everybody is on if they want a better career, right?
